Phoenix's R&D investments have produced some of the best horizontal and directional drilling technologies available. Continuing Progress Having proven Phoenix’s CLT EM-MWD system’s reliability and performance in over 500 wells, both conventional and underbalanced, Phoenix’s R&D team is generating enhancement technologies to meet industry demands. Emerging drilling applications, such as SAGD, require the absolute highest levels of drilling accuracy. Phoenix’s Inclination–at-bit system was developed to provide unparalleled precision with sensors housed within 1 meter of the drill bit. Increasingly projects necessitate navigation through unpredictable formations, as is the case with CBM projects. To eliminate the uncertainty of formation dips and decrease the probability of leaving the targeted zone, Phoenix developed a Focused Gamma Module, which shields the tool from a portion of the gamma rays emitted.
